The Basics

This is what you will see once you enter the editing space. In the editing space you can make hyperlinks, type text, add images, tables, and widgets. In the new update, you can make comments on your page. You can undo and redo what you just did. Preview lets you view how your wikipage will look once you are done editing it. Cancel will get rid of your page. Hit the save and continue button in the drop down menu under save as many times as you can while you are editing, because you never know what could happen! Once you are done editing the page, hit the save button and it will bring you to the finished page.

Editing Text

Bold, italics, and underlining are only some of the things you can do with your text. You can change the color, font, and size of the text. (An example of this is the heading above) Changing the size of the font is much different than other applications like Google Docs and Word. It is the drop down menu located in between the text editing button and the lists options. There are seven different size options, listed from largest to smallest. Just highlight the text that you want to change the size of, and hit the size you want. The style text button is the button with the T over the art pallet in between bold and the list options. If you click this, it will bring you to a page with options to change the size, font, position, and color of the text. You can also change the background color here. The advanced option lets you edit the text using CSS.

Adding Links

The link button as seen boxed in orange can be used to add links to your page. When you click on the button, it will bring you to a page with a side bar, and areas to enter text. In the side bar you will see the options for page or file, web address, or email address. In page and file, you have to enter the link text into the text box. There is an option to open up a new window underneath. Then, pick the wiki and page name. There is the option to anchor the link. In web address, you must enter the link text and then the address. You also have the option to open it in a new window. Email address looks the same as web address, but the text bar for the address has been replaced by email address. Once you are done with your selections, hit the add link button. Below is an example of a link to a picture after you add it to your page.

Here is the example

Downloading Files

The downloading files button is located in between the link button and the widget button. Here, you can add pictures, media files, videos, and more to your wikipage. Once you hit this button, you will be brought to a page with the options on the side bar of insert file, or external images. If you want to insert a picture from the internet onto your wikipage, your easiest option is external images, because all you have to do is copy and paste the URL of the picture into the text box, click on the picture that shows up, and insert it into the wikipage. Unlike Google Docs, there is no copy and paste option for pictures and videos. If you want to insert a picture that is already saved in a file on your computer, then you should go to insert files. Here, all you need to do is search for the file name, then click insert image. You can filter the images by using a tag, and the drop down menu below it will filter the kind of file.

Here is an example of using the external images button to insert a picture into your wikipage from the internet.

Now that you have the image, there are many things you can do to it. If you click on the image in edit mode, you will be able to change the alignment and size, and add links and captions. Alignment changes how the picture is centered on the page, in this case on the left. To the right of these buttons are a plus, minus, and two arrows buttons. The plus sign is the image size up button, which makes the image larger. the minus sign is the image size down button, which makes the image smaller. The two arrows is the image size original button, which brings the image back to its original size before you started editing it. There is also +Link, which adds a link to your picture, which comes in handy for references. You can also edit the caption here with the text box at the bottom. You can see the caption I entered below the picture above. Once you add in your picture or video, make sure to move it or your text around in order for it to fit right. Sometimes it will look kind of jumbled up! If this problem occurs frequently, then hit the preview button before you save to make sure nothing gets messed up.
